First purchase of booze from a government alcohol shop. Old secret dark rum for 70 rupees. Its surprisingly nice, much nicer in fact than any of the main brand dark rums back home such as captain morgan. It doesnt touch quality rums from the caribbean but has interesting notes of vanilla and its very smooth. I shared some quality white rum with the folks we met at varkala called mcdowells. Ive been searching for it since but we've only chanced upon the government shops which sell these weird labels and makes of booze. All cheap and strong and served by someone who hasnt seen daylight for a couple of months and is on the ghengis khan side of courteous.
